Palomar Challenge Hill Climb Results 2007

A fantastic 1st year for the Palomar challenge! The weather cooperated and it was cool by August standards and the weather on the top of the mountain was perfect! We had about 140 riders participate in the ride and a good time was had by all.

This year's open male division was won by Adam Livingston who clearly was the strongest rider finishing almost 2 minutes in front of his nearest competitor! Brent Prenslow a multiple time state of California cyclocross champion and winner of the Julian 7500 death march crossed over to the smooth side and took 2nd place. 3rd Place was taken by Matt Sheremeta who left early to go surfing. He sported the finest "dress" of all after the ride by wearing a Kilt!

In the Male 40+ division Kevin McNulty won the day. Kevin is quite a rider and two years ago he won the two man division of RAAM! 2nd Place in the 40+ division went to Jim Armstrong.

In the Male 50+ division Mark Helvie won top honors with 2nd place going to UC Cyclery team mate Robert Willcox..

As Usual the top honors in the Male 60+ division went to Herb Johnson. Heb is a tremendous rider who trains harder than anyone else. As a testament to his strength he finished 7th overall! 2nd Place went to Butch Richardson who also was one of the first people back from the 62 mile ride!

The closest competition of the day was in the Female open division with 1st place going to Lee Schwarz who finished just inches in front of 2nd place finisher, Kathy Kasischke in a sprint finish! Lee is a former New Jersey state mountain bike champion and this was her first road competition.

In the Female 40+ division 1st place went to Lisa Eaton

In the Female 50+ division it was no surprise as Adrienne Brian took top honors followed in 2nd place by Ellen Turkel.

In the Female 60+ division it was Karen Boyd taking home the win.

Thanks go out to the Santa Ysabel Casino who put up $1000 in cash prizes and to Hi-Tech bikes for providing outstanding ride support.
