Palomar Challenge

October,  11th, 2008

RIDE DETAILS

1. All of these rides involve plenty of climbing. Make sure you are prepared. Lower gearing can be your friend on these rides.

2. It can be warm to very cool in October. There will be plenty of water at the rest stops, energy drinks and fruit. Make sure you have at least 2 bottles with you or a camelback.

3. The start finish is in the middle of the course so it is very easy to regulate how far you want to ride. The hill climb competition is the same as the 24 mile ride. The 35 mile and 62 mile ride continue on up to the observatory and then back down to the Lake Henshaw Resort. The 62 mile ride then does and out and back on Mesa Grande Road and then returns back to the start finish area at the Lake Henshaw Resort.

4. Registration and check in open at 6:00 A.M. and the rides begin at 7:30 A.M.  There will be a one hour start window.

5. Those interested in the hill climb competition will start at the head of the event at 8:30 A.M.

6. The course closes at 3:00 P.M.

7. For lodging or camping please phone the Lake Henshaw Resort at 760-782-3487
