Palomar Challenge 2011 Results.

Another fine day on the mountain. The competition was tough and this year's winner Eric Sammuli nipped Rick Bienias at the finish line by a few fractions of a second for our closest finish ever! Eric in the process set a new record by over a minute. Last year's winner and former record holder Drew Peterson pulled the pair up most of the way before they pulled away. The hill wasn't steep enough or long enough for Drew!

Angela Wimberly took home the women's overall trophy with an impressive 21st overall placing.

Herb Johnson at 67 placed 6th overall and continues to school his younger competitors.

Frank Yancey was the first recumbent rider, so he set the recumbent record.

A big thanks to all of our volunteers, who without their help, it would be impossible to put on these events. Our newest volunteer Steve Ward who handled the rest stop on Palomar Mountain, Steve McSparran out at the Mesa Grande Road rest stop, Bill (coach) Porter for backup timing, Deanna Wolf for recording numbers and positions, Shirley DuErmit for registration and of course our dogs Sam and Lolita for keeping us all happy! Also a big thanks to the Lake Henshaw resort staff and the staff at the Round up BBQ.
