Palomar Challenge Hill Climb Results 2010 The weather for the 2010 edition was perfect! Sunny skies, ideal temps and a gentle breeze made for a super day to be out on the bike. We had a record number of riders this year with almost 200 participants. 80 Riders took place in the timed hillclimb up Palomar's East Grade. This year's winner Drew Peterson set a record by over 3 1/2 minutes with a great time of 44:56! He won by exactly 5 minutes over his closest competitor! Alex Ranum won the 18 and under division at the age of 17 and placed 10th overall! He is a Triathlete competitor and quite the talent. 7 Year old Brody McDonald won the Jr division, and became the youngest competitor in the history of the Palomar Challenge. Nick Venuto won the 40 plus division and placed 5th overall. David Stowell won the 45 plus division and placed 8th overall. Juergen Woehl won the 50 plus division and placed 4th overall. Bob Rosemeyer won the 55 plus division with a great time of under 56 minutes. Herb Johnson at age 66 won the 60 plus division and placed 3rd overall! What an amazing competitor he is. We had a good size field of 60 plus competitors. Robert Bergen won the 70 plus division at the age of 85! He is old enough to be Herb Johnson's dad! Dan Oakland was our inspirational story of the day, and won the Challenged Athletes division, riding with an artificial leg. At the age of 62 he turned in a fine time and placed 48th overall! Lorraine Hartmann won the women's open division. Maria Huntalas won the women's 40 plus division Angela Wimberly won the women's 45 plus division, was the fastest women of the day, and placed an impressive 18th overall! Kathy McIntyre won the women's 50 plus division, and placed 20th overall! Susan Wilkens in the same division finished only 2 seconds behind Kathy and placed 21st overall.
