Julian Death March 2012 Final Results
2012 gave us the worst weather conditions in the history of the Julian Death March. The weather never cooperated and this made for a day of epic proportions. Our fear initially was whether any racers would show up or not but then it became a fear of them actually showing up! Snow, rain, cold and worst of all gale force winds punished all riders from the get go.
Not only did racers show up but many racers signed up the day of the event!
The overall winner this year was Bryan Taylor, who being from Ireland raced in conditions similar to his homeland! Kudos to all who raced and to our awesome volunteers, particularly Bob Niles our motor cycle sweep who was out there all day making sure riders stayed on course, repairing bikes and encouraging them all. Volunteers Jean, Lee, Angie, Chad, Sam, Bill, Dave, Steve and Shirley helped make this epic event a possibility. Without these folks, this event could never have happened. Also a big thanks to Chad for putting together the pre race dinner and Mary Collier for sharing her biking adventures with us.
A special thanks goes out to two bike shops who also helped throughout the day. Enrico from Seki's Cycles and also Zumwalts Cycles. These shops not only talk the talk BUT they walk the walk. Please consider them in the future for any and all of your cycling needs.
We have been thinking of moving the Julian Death March into October of this year to avoid our horrible weather conditions we have been encountering lately in April. Any suggestions or feedback on this idea would be appreciated.

These racers did two loops of Rodriguez, Oriflame and Chariot! All those who raced got buffeted and blown off their bikes on Oriflame and had to endure the soupy clay at the top of Chariot. To do this twice is absolutely insane!
